Clare Intermediate Football Championship Final
Naomh Eoin v Wolfe Tones at Páirc Cuar an Chláir Cooraclare, Saturday 3pm (Niall Quinn, St Joseph’s Miltown)
Having already locked horns in the Division 3 League Final at the end of June, the fact that only the minimum separated the sides that day should be the clearest indicator yet of a repeat occurrence this Saturday.
Indeed, both already upset the odds by taking down favourites Clondegad and Kilrush by a similar margin at the penultimate stage two weeks ago to tee up this historic final showdown.
Wolfe Tones enter as favorites mainly due to their superior strength-in-depth that could well include more of their intermediate winning hurling side from last weekend. Dean Devanney and Colin Riordan have superbly flown the dual flag all year but the Tones’ major boost has come in the form of the evergreen Gary Leahy who has brilliantly led their attack.
Naomh Eoin will equally eye this up as a glorious opportunity to add another scalp to their incrementally prestigious pile that includes Clondegad (twice), Shannon Gaels and Banner. They will never get a better chance either as with Corofin coming in the other direction, the race for intermediate honours will only intensify for 2025.
The Peninsula side will relish being underdogs once more and will throw everything at their Shannon opponents but with match-winning back-up from the bench, the Tones may just have the slightest of edges once more as they bid to compete a historic double.

Clare Junior A Football Championship Final
Michael Cusack’s v Clarecastle at Hennessy Memorial Park Miltown Malbay, Monday 12pm (Gary Twomey, Ennistymon)
Eerily it’s a repeat of the 2012 Junior A decider that was also played on the October bank holiday weekend. Clarecastle won that day by the minimum but have since halted their adult wing and rejuvenated it once more over the past two seasons fronted by an extremely youthful side that predominantly populated Minor Division 2 and 3 triumphs along with last year’s Under 21B crown.
Michael Cusack’s are a far more seasoned outfit though who actually vied with intermediate finalists Wolfe Tones and Naomh Eoin for Division 3 honours this year.
With a sizable Tubber contingent too, they won’t need any additional motivation to try and write the wrong of last weekend’s intermediate hurling final reverse. However, they will need to be extremely wary of the resurgent Magpies.

Clare Premier Junior B Football Championship Final
Wolfe Tones v Moy at Gurteen, Monday 12.30pm (Pat Healy, Kilmaley)
They may have been heartbreakingly evicted from the park due to the unforeseen senior hurling final postponement but silverware is all that ultimately matters for Moy and Wolfe Tones. Moy’s journey has been boosted by fresh blood this year in the form of target man Cian Shannon but the tie will hinge on Wolfe Tones’ momentum. Having lost last year’s final, an intermediate win on Saturday could be the catalyst for a memorable weekend in Shannon.
