THE late Susan Clark made her final trip home to her eternal resting place on July 4 last. A native of Killimer, 100-year old Susan was laid to rest in Burrane graveyard alongside her parents. She emigrated to England 78 years ago to find work as a seamstress. Susan featured in The Scattering, a book which traced 78 Clare emigrants and sent a group of photographers, including The Clare Champion’s John Kelly, to photograph them in their adopted homes. The Scattering was launched in 2000 by the late President Hillery. Kilkee Community College school teacher Sister Mary O’Connell was Susan Clark’s niece and was among the extended family at the funeral in Killimer. “Susan had talked about being buried with her mother and father in Burrane.
