Clare SVP recruiting following the largest number of calls in its history

FOLLOWING a record number of calls for help in 2023, the Society of St Vincent de Paul (SVP) in Clare is actively recruiting new volunteers in the Ennis area. Clare SVP will host an information meeting in the Temple Gate Hotel, Ennis at 7.30pm on Wednesday, October 9 for people interested in joining the Society. Cyril Treanor, Secretary of the Clare SVP said, “We are asking people to consider volunteering with SVP in Ennis and become part of the largest charitable organisation in the country. We have over one hundred volunteer members spread across 14 different local branches in Clare. Last year we received over 5,000 calls for assistance from people experiencing poverty in the whole of County Clare. These branches helped over 1500 different households will food, heating, electricity and education costs.” He explained, “We are seeking people with the traits of kindness, compassion, discretion, respect and the ability to be non-judgemental.
