GARDAÍ are appealing for witnesses after a fatal road traffic collision on the R352, Mountshannon, last night (November 5). Officers said that at around 7.45pm last evening, a car collided with a pedestrian, a man in his 80s, who was later pronounced dead. The R352 was closed, with local diversions put in place, to allow for a technical examination to be conducted by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Gardaí in Ennis are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward. Any road users with camera footage (including dash-cam) from the R352 between 7.30pm and 8.00pm last night, are asked to make this available to investigating Gardaí. GARDAÍ are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision at Darragh on Thursday evening. Shortly after 7pm Gardaí and emergency services attended at the scene of the collision involving a car and pedestrian. The collision occurred on the N68 at Darragh on the main Ennis to Kilrush road. A 41-year-old female pedestrian was seriously injured when she was struck by the car. The woman was taken by ambulance to University Hospital Limerick where she was later pronounced dead. Gardaí in Gort are investigating a two vehicle fatal road traffic collision that occurred on the N18, approximately 2 kms on the Galway side of Ardrahan, shortly after 12.30am this Monday. A pedestrian, a 66-year-old man, was fatally injured when he was struck by a car. The car also struck a parked garda car injuring the two gardaí, who were outside the car at the time. The man was pronounced dead at the scene and his body taken to University Hospital Galway. The two gardaí were taken to University Hospital Galway with injuries described as non life threatening. They remain in hospital. The man in his 40s, who was the driver of the first car, was arrested at the scene and taken to Gort Garda Station and has since been released. Gardai in East Cork are appealing for witnesses to a road traffic accident in which a Tulla man was fatally injured. Thirty three year-old Cathal Torpey received fatal injures when struck by a car on the Cork side of Castlemartyr at approximately 5.15am Monday morning. He was removed by ambulance to Cork University Hospital where he later died. He is the only son of Margaret and the late Martin (Mar) Torpey. The driver of the car was uninjured. The road was closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Gardaí at Mayorstone in Limerick are continuing their investigation into a fatal accident involving a pedestrian on the main Ennis to Limerick road at Meelick on Saturday morning. A 27-year-old man, who was walking along the hard shoulder of the road, was struck by a truck at 6.45am. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the truck was not injured. It is understood the deceased had been a guest at a wedding at the Radisson Hotel. A section of the road, between the Radisson hotel and the Coonagh roundabout,was closed for a Garda technical examination of the scene.
