Pedestrian fatality on Ennis to Limerick road


Gardaí at Mayorstone in Limerick are continuing their investigation into a fatal accident involving a pedestrian on the main Ennis to Limerick road at Meelick on Saturday morning.

A 27-year-old man, who was walking along the hard shoulder of the road, was struck by a truck at 6.45am. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the truck was not injured.

It is understood the deceased had been a guest at a wedding at the Radisson Hotel.

A section of the road, between the Radisson hotel and the Coonagh roundabout,was closed for a Garda technical examination of the scene.
