It was effectively sink or swim as Clare faced the the top five camogie teams in last year’s National League Division 1A campaign. It would be a daunting enough task for the Banner County’s most experienced side not to mind a flagship side that saw up to nine of the 2023 All-Ireland Premier Junior winning panel made the leap to senior following an inordinate turnover of players.

As it turned out, Clare did sink through the trapdoor to 1B but off the back of being thrown in at the deep end in the top flight, ended up swimming as Clare subsequently secured two All-Ireland Senior Championship victories for the very first time.

Understandably, manager John Carmody is eager to maintain that upward curve, starting with a five match 1B campaign that will provide an ideal litmus test of his ever-evolving squad.
