Gardai warning as Clare person scammed out of €2,400

GARDAI have renewed their appeal for vigilance around personal banking details in the wake of a Clare person being scammed out of a large sum of money.

Clare crime prevention officer Sergeant Triona Brooks said, “During the week we received a report from a person who received a text message and followed a link and entered their bank details on the link as they were expecting a parcel.

“This person later realised this was a scam as €2,400 was taken from their account.

“We again want to remind people not to follow links sent on a text or email and never divulge your account details including PIN.”
