Kilmaley’s John Carmody has been appointed manager of Clare’s Senior and Junior Camogie sides for 2023, having been joint manager with Conor Dolan last season.
He was previously manager of the senior side for two seasons in 2012 and 2013, guiding the county to the Munster title in his first year at the helm. That provincial success was the first Clare had experienced in 38 years.
Carmody had previously been involved with the county minors before taking on the senior role. He is currently finalising his backroom team which is to be confirmed at a later date.
In a year of near misses, Clare’s Senior side were forced to come through a relegation play off against Offaly to preserve their status. Clare lost three and drew two of their group games after reaching the Munster final.
They beat Tipperary after a replay to progress to the provincial showdown while despite their best performance of the year, they suffered a heartbreaking defeat to Cork after double extra time.
Meanwhile, the Junior side also came out the wrong side of the result after double extra time in their semi final showdown with Antrim, with the Saffrons subsequently claiming All Ireland glory.
Scariff/Ogonnelloe’s Eleanor Walsh has been re-appointed as the county minor camogie manager. This will be Walsh’s third in charge with Clare reaching the Munster Minor Final in May before coming up short against reigning All Ireland champions Cork.
She was joint-manager when Scariff-Ogonnelloe first contested an All-Ireland Club Final in 2013.
The Clare Senior Camogie Final will take place on Saturday 15th October with Scariff Ogonnelloe and Truagh Clonalra doing battle at 1pm in Cusack Park. The Fr Liam Murray Cup Final will throw in at 4pm at Clare Camogie’s headquarters in Fr McNamara Park.
