A total of 2,649 people received first-dose Pfizer Covid-19 vaccines at walk-in clinics in the three Mid-West Vaccination Centres over the busy weekend.

The regional total was composed of 1,273 vaccinations in the Limerick Racecourse Centre; 822 in the West County Hotel, Ennis; and 554 in the Abbey Court Hotel, Nenagh; following walk-in clinics held in the centres on Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday.

Colette Cowan, CEO, UL Hospitals’ Group, said the group was delighted with the response to the walk-in clinics over the Bank Holiday Weekend.

“With Covid-19 still a very real threat to our communities and healthcare facilities in the Mid-West, it was wonderful to see so many people aged 16 and over taking the time over the weekend to play a very important part in the battle against the virus by getting vaccinated and maximising our societal immunity to this dreadful disease.”

These doses, and all activity at the vaccination centres last week, from July 26th to close of business on Bank Holiday Monday, bring to 288,921 the total vaccinations administered under the Mid-West Covid-19 Vaccination programme.

This total does not include the vaccination work undertaken by HSE Mid-West Community Healthcare, the National Ambulance Service, General Practitioners and pharmacists.
Including the walk-in clinics, last week’s vaccination total for the three centres was 12,128 doses. This was composed of 6,290 doses of COVID-19 vaccine in the Limerick centre; 3,428 in Ennis; and 2,410 in Nenagh.

UL Hospitals’ Group Covid-19 vaccination teams continue working to ensure that everyone in the Mid-West will receive a vaccine, in line with national guidance on vaccination. The group urge anyone with a query about their vaccine to contact the helpline on 1850-241850.

Walk-in vaccination clinics were set up nationally over the August Bank holiday weekend to make it as easy as possible for people to get vaccinated.
The HSE is analysing the operational effectiveness and will make a decision on using further walk-in COVID-19 vaccination clinics in due course.
