New date for next year’s KPMG Women’s Irish Open in Dromoland

THE KPMG Women’s Irish Open, which is to be held in Dromoland Castle, will take place from August 31 until September 3 in 2023 three weeks earlier in the calendar than this year’s event. More than 24,000 people attended this year’s event at Dromoland Castle’s championship course in September, a record for a women’s golf event in Ireland. Located on the shores of Lough Dromoland, Dromoland Castle’s 18-hole 6,824 yards par 72 championship course, designed by Ron Kirby and JB Carr, was a brilliant setting for the return of the Women’s Irish Open following a ten-year absence. The world class course, undertook a €2 million upgrade in advance of the 2022 tournament, proved to be a demanding and exhilarating test for some of the game’s top golfers in September 2022. Clare’s Aideen teed up for great experience at Women’s Irish Open

Ennis golfer Aideen Walsh will compete at this year’s KPMG Women’s Irish Open in Dromoland that tees off this Thursday morning. The amateur golfer will come up against some of the elite players in the women’s game with Leona Maguire set to compete while Major champion Catriona Matthew, who won the Irish Open when it was last held in 2012, is part of a stacked field. Walsh states this is not a completely new experience for herself as she aims to produce her best golf next week with Sky Sports set to broadcast the event. The Irish international amateur is no stranger to competing alongside the stars of women’s golf having twice played her way into the ISPS Handa World Invitational. “I’ve been lucky enough to play in a pro event up in the North about two years ago so this will be at a similar level. Golfer back to defend her title – ten years on

TEN years after she claimed the Women’s Irish Open golf tournament, one of the top golfers on the circuit has returned to Clare to defend her title. Catriona Matthew has flown into Shannon Airport today ahead of the KPMG Women’s Irish Open, which is being held for the first time since 2012. It will be the first time for a Ladies European Tour event to be played in Ireland since 2012. The competition will see 126 of the best professionals on the Ladies European Tour and leading Irish Amateurs take to the 18-hole Championship Course.
