FOUR flight diversions were facilitated at Shannon Airport on Wednesday afternoon due to adverse weather conditions. A Shannon Airport Group spokesperson said: “Four flights were diverted to Shannon Airport, three originally due to land at Cork Airport and one due at Dublin Airport. This is the second time in a fortnight that Shannon Airport has facilitated diverted flights. “The first of these flights arrived from London Gatwick at 1.20pm on Wednesday. Other flights were diverted from Edinburgh, Bristol and Malaga.”

SEVEN Dublin Airport bound flights diverted to Shannon this afternoon, due to the stormy conditions in the capital. Shannon Airport Group Head of Communications, Nandi O’Sullivan said: “Nine flights, which were originally due to land at Dublin Airport, were diverted to Shannon Airport. The first of these flights arrived from London Heathrow at 12.50pm today. Other flights were diverted from the following destinations; Berlin, Frankfurt, Vienna (two flights), Chicago and Milan.” The spokesperson confirmed that Shannon Airport is available for further diversions if required.

The Limerick Tunnel will be closed this Monday evening for scheduled maintenance. Direct Route, which operates the tunnel, says both the northbound and southbound lanes will be closed from 8pm until 6am on Tuesday morning. Diversions will be in place via junction 4 (Cratloemoyle) for traffic travelling from the Clare side while northbound traffic will be diverted at junction 2 (Dock Road). The diversion route includes the R445 (Ennis Road), the R527 (Condell Road) and the N69 (Dock Road).
