THE CEO of Vitalograph Ireland has said plans for the development of a new Centre of Excellence in Ennis “will offer many opportunities” with confirmation that the move will create 72 new jobs. As reported in last week’s Clare Champion, Clare County Council and Ennis 2040 are selling the Ballymaley Enterprise and Innovation Centre building to Vitalograph Ireland for the development of its new Clinical Trials Services Centre of Excellence. Speaking this week on the plans Frank Keane, CEO, Vitalograph Ireland, said, “This expansion represents a significant development for our company and Vitalograph’s commitment to its Irish operations as well as the local community in County Clare. “The new premises will enable us to support the international growth of our ground-breaking clinical trial solutions. MOVES are underway by a “global leader” to create a ‘Centre of Excellence’ in Ennis with an employment boost of up to 100 jobs predicted. While the Council has not revealed the name of the company involved, it is understood that Vitalograph is behind the proposal. Liam Conneally, director of economic development with Clare County Council has described the plans as “exciting”. In order to bring the plans to fruition, the council are set to sell a building at the Ballymaley Business Park on the Gort Road for €1.2 million to the company. The sale of the property is to be brought before a full meeting of Clare County Council next week for approval. Ennis Municipal District councillors already voiced their support for the plans at their monthly meeting. Read More »‘Huge’ repair costs following Ennis burglary
THE owners of an Ennis industrial unit have been left with a “huge” repair bill following a burglary at the weekend with gardaí issuing an appeal to the public for information. Gardaí in Ennis are investigating after entry was gained to an industrial unit under construction in the Ballymaley Business Park on the Gort Road. The incident occurred sometime between 6.30pm on Friday, July 3 and 8.20am on Saturday, July 4. Recently installed cables were cut and four batteries from cherry pickers were moved onto the floor and connecting wires cut resulting in internal damage. Crime Prevention Officer with Clare Gardaí Sergeant Triona Brooks outlined, “The monetary value of the cable stolen is very little but the cost of repair is huge.
