Man dies in Meelick crash

A man in his 20’s has died and a woman is in a serious condition in hospital following a single vehicle crash in Meelick earlier today.

The incident occurred at around 4am at Woodcock Hill. It is understood the driver lost control of the vehicle and collided with a tree.

The male driver of the car was seriously injured and pronounced dead at the scene. His body was removed to University Hospital Limerick.

The female passenger, aged 25, was injured and taken to University Hospital Limerick with what gardai say were serious injuries.

The road has been closed to facilitate a Forensic collision examination and local diversions are in place.
