Clare village’s buy-a-brick campaign for community centre job

CRUSHEEN Community Centre Committee has announced the creation of a new Wall of Sponsors and have invited their community to be a part of the opportunity.

Everyone in the community and all local businesses are invited to sponsor a personalised, engraved brick that will be displayed as part of a wall of sponsors installed as a permanent fixture within the community centre.

It is planned to open the facility in autumn, complete with an extension, new heating and insulation, new doors and windows, additional meeting rooms, conferencing facilities, and high-speed Wi-Fi.

One quarter of the capital renovation value is needed to retire the current debt, and all donations and sponsorships raised through ongoing fundraising will support the fit-out and help to plan for the future running of the centre.

Bricks can be inscribed with the sponsor’s name, family name, or business name, or in honour or in memory of a relative or pet. Two brick sizes are available – single (24 characters) and double (48 characters).

“Over the years there have been many wonderful occasions and achievements in Crusheen Community Centre,” said Geraldine Tynan, Director, Communications and Marketing.

“The renovation project is the next milestone in the history of our community, and we look forward to inviting everyone to the opening of our new facilities, which will include the unveiling of the wall of sponsors.”

Director and Chairman Michael O’Doherty noted the long and successful history of the centre.

“While the community centre dates back over 100 years, we foresee the renovation will provide for a continuing legacy for many generations, and now individuals and businesses have the opportunity to leave their own lasting legacy by purchasing a personalised engraved brick which will be on display for many years to come,” he said.

Crusheen Community Centre is non-profit organisation whose mission is the operation of a community centre which will be of huge benefit to residents in Crusheen and the surrounding area.

“Our aim is the provision of a wide range of activities involving the community in the promotion of the educational, cultural and economic welfare of the entire population of the village regardless of class or political persuasion.

“We hope to promote the advancement of community welfare, and also of community development including rural regeneration.”

The three areas it focuses on are connection, creativity and culture.

A new website has been dedicated to the late Michael Fogarty and Eugene Mulligan, both of whom have contributed enormously to this project.

The committee said their dedication and commitment have driven the project to where it is today and that both will always be fondly remembered.

Online orders are now being taken on Crusheencc.ie where more information is also available.
