Four Australian entertainers will visit Parteen in October as part of a series of concerts in Ireland. Former Mayo resident Joe McManamon lives in New South Wales and will be making his 18th return visit to family and friends, performing in Flashes Bar in Parteen on October 10. He will have three friends with him for the three-week visit, which will also see them perform in Belmullet, Ballinrobe and Crossmolina.

ARTIST Pauline Goggin may have recently left Clare, her home for 30 years but that doesn’t mean she has forgotten the county. Pauline lived and pained in Aherina, Kilmore for 30 years and much of the inspiration for the work in her new show, which opened in Cork this month, comes from her experiences of living and working in Clare. She has recently returned to live in her native Limerick and the theme of ‘return’ permeates her new exhibition, A Fool’s Dance, which is currently on display in The Cork Vision Centre. She has returned to the large drawings she first showed in Dublin in 1990 and these and other pieces have been incorporated with new works from 2009. The effect is an exciting and thought-provoking visual experience.
