A ‘TIERED’ approach to parking, with spaces in Ennis town centre having shorter time limits than those further out, could be the solution to keeping the town moving, according to one local councillor, as it emerged that 60% of spaces in the Abbey Street carpark are taken up by business owners and their staff.

Councillor Antoinette Baker Bashua (FF) has urged the Ennis Municipal District to conduct a feasibility study on the potential of implementing a new parking model in the town centre “to enhance turnover and accessibility”.

The local authority have confirmed preparations for a review of the town’s parking byelaws are being made.
