ONE person has been airlifted to hospital while three children were transported by road ambulance following a traffic collision in West Clare this morning. Gardaí have confirmed that the main N67 Kilrush to Kilkee road will remain closed for a number of hours following the crash. The incident, involving a car and a van, occurred at the junction at Lisdeen Church at around 9.30am. Emergency services were quickly alerted. National Ambulance Service paramedics and Gardaí responded to the incident along with fire crews from Kilkee and Kilrush stations. The Cork-based charity-funded Irish Community Air Ambulance was also requested to attend the scene. Fire crews had to use specialist equipment to cut the roof off the car so they could safely access and remove the injured driver. A young man has been airlifted to hospital in Dublin after he was injured in a road traffic collision in East Clare on Wednesday afternoon. The incident, which involved a tractor but no other vehicle, happened at around 5.45pm at Knockaveen off the main R461 Scariff to Feakle road. It’s understood the driver, believed to be in his late teens, was working in the area for a contractor and was drawing bales when the collision occurred. It’s thought that he lost control of the tractor on the country road and overturned. Two units of Clare County Fire and Rescue Service from Scariff station responded to the incident along with National Ambulance Service paramedics and Gardaí. A man was airlifted to hospital today after he was injured in an incident at the ESB’s Moneypoint power station in West Clare. The man, a mechanical contractor in his 50s, is understood to have sustained serious leg injuries in an accident involving a forklift. National Ambulance Service paramedics attended the scene and treated the injured man. It was decided that the casualty should be flown to the nearest suitable hospital so an air ambulance was requested. The HSE’s Emergency Aeromedical Service (EAS) tasked the Cork-based, charity-funded Irish Community Air Ambulance (ICAA) helicopter to respond to the incident. The helicopter landed in a GAA field near Kilrush and the injured man was transported by road to meet the aircraft. The man was then airlifted to University Hospital Limerick for treatment. A man has been airlifted to hospital after he sustained burns in an accident and went to a local Garda station to seek help, reports Pat Flynn. Gardaí were surprised to see the man present himself at Ennistymon station this afternoon, but quickly jumped into action and treated the injured man until ambulance paramedics arrived. It’s understood the man suffered burns in an accident in a domestic setting and made his way to Ennistymon Garda station to seek assistance. Gardaí administered first aid to the injured man and alerted the National Ambulance Service. Paramedics made their way to the Garda station where they assessed and treated the casualty. A decision was made to have the patient airlifted to hospital in Galway rather than transport him by road ambulance which would have taken up 90 minutes. The National Ambulance Service (NAS) requested the Cork-based charity-funded Irish Community Air Ambulance, Helimed-92, to carry out the mission. In the meantime, the injured man …

The Irish Community Air Ambulance is asking supporters and businesses to help it Light Up The Sky and sponsor a star to fund lifesaving missions this Christmas. In the past year, the air ambulance attended incidents in county Clare over 50 times, accounting for 12% out of a total of 468 taskings. The Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) is Ireland’s only charity-funded Air Ambulance. It responds to serious incidents and medical emergencies every day of the year, including Christmas Day, from its base in Rathcoole, Co. Cork. There were 42 taskings during December 2020, including one on Christmas Day. Crews launched 12 times between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve to counties Cork, Clare, Kerry, Limerick and Waterford costing an estimated €42,000. Each helicopter mission costs an average of €3,500, all of which has to be raised or donated. The HEMS Air Ambulance has been tasked by the National Ambulance Service to 468 incidents so far in 2021.
