Gardaí have arrested one man and seized drugs with an estimated street value in excess of €36,000 during an intelligence led operation targeting the sale and supply of controlled drugs in Clonlara late on Friday night. At approximately 11pm, Gardaí executed a search warrant at a premises in Clonlara. During the course of the search, a quantity of ketamine, MDMA, cannabis, cannabis plants, DMT and cannabis jellies were seized (subject to analysis) with an estimated street value of €36,000. Approximately €4,000 in cash, a taser and mobile phones were also seized along with drug paraphernalia. One man, in his 20s, was arrested during the course of the search and is currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996 in Henry Street Garda Station. Eleven people arrested by gardaí as part of an investigation into alleged sexual exploitation of children have been released without charge. Files will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions and the investigation is ongoing. Gardaí from Newcastle West, Bruff, Henry Street, Mayorstone Park and Roxboro Road in conjunction with the Limerick Divisional Protective Services Unit on Monday last arrested 11 adults (six females and five males ranging in ages 20s to 70s) as part of an investigation into alleged sexual exploitation of children who were resident in the Newcastle West Garda District. All eleven were arrested in Limerick, Tipperary and Kerry were detained at various Garda Stations in Limerick, Cork and Clare under the provisions of Section 4 – Criminal Justice Act 1984.

Gardaí are investigating a fatal road traffic collision that occurred in the townland of Gooig, Castleconnell early on Sunday morning. At approximately 6.15am a pedestrian was struck by a car and was fatally injured. His body has been removed to University Hospital Limerick and a post mortum will take place. The driver of the car was uninjured. As part of an intelligence led, joint operation, with An Garda Síochána, Revenue officers today (Monday) seized 1.6 kgs of Cannabis Herb with an estimated street value of approximately €32,000 at Newcastle West, Limerick. The drugs had been sent in freight from the Netherlands. Two men, aged 32 and 46, were arrested, by gardaí and detained at Henry Street Garda Station, under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996. Investigations are continuing.
