GARDAI are seeking help from members of the public in their investigations into a spate of thefts from parked cars across the county. Last Friday afternoon around 1.20pm, two cars that were parked at Bunratty Folk Park were broken into. The window of one car was smashed and a blue Michael Kors handbag containing a black Apple iPhone and passports was stolen and a wallet was stolen from the second car. A red Renault Clio hatchback car was seen leaving the area after the break-ins. Following an intelligence lead operation, Gardaí arrested two males in connection with this incident. Some property has been recovered and a male in his 30s was brought before a sitting of the Ennis District Court charged with offences linked to this incident. As part of the ongoing Operation Tara, a garda raid on a house in Ennis yielded drugs with a street value of almost €10,000 On Friday, September 17, at 9.10pm, gardaí from the Clare Divisional Drugs Unit carried out a search under warrant at a house in Ennis. They discovered a quantity of suspected Cannabis Herb with an estimated street value of €3,200 and suspected Cocaine with an estimated street value of €6,790. No arrests were made at the time but investigating Gardaí are following definite lines of enquiry and a file will be prepared for submission to the office of the DPP. The suspected controlled drugs will be forwarded to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.

CLARE Gardaí have issued advice on identifying bogus trades people following an incident in the county last week. On Monday, August 9 at 12.30 p.m. two men on foot called to a house in St. Joseph’s Terrace in Clarecastle. They told the owner of the house that they were checking the house for leaks or dampness. The lady had been waiting for the Council to paint her house and asked the men were they from the Council. They replied that they had been sub-contracted by the Council and would require an upfront payment of €250 before they carried out any work. The lady unfortunately paid the men and they left on foot without carrying out any work. On foot of this incident, gardai are reiterating crime prevention advice in relation to bogus callers and rogue tradesmen. They advise the following security checks and measures. Read More »Suspect held following armed robbery at Ennis shop
A MAN has been remanded in Limerick Prison following an alleged armed robbery in Ennis. At five past six on Tuesday evening, August 10, a lone male entered the Gala shop on Cloughleigh Road, Ennis wearing a balaclava over his face and carrying a knife. He demanded the staff member to open the cash register but he couldn’t open it. The man then took a number of packets of cigarettes and left on a bike in the direction of the Lahinch Road. This was a traumatic incident for the staff member but he wasn’t physically injured. Later in the same evening gardaí executed a search warrant at a house in Ennis and a male in his late 20s was arrested and detained at Ennis Garda Station. On August 12 he was brought before Ennis District Court and was remanded in custody to Limerick Prison.
