‘Permanent damage’ being done to Ennis?

ALMOST a year and a half into Ennis’ €11.5 million Public Realm Project traders in the town centre are still feeling the brunt with one retailer fearing “permanent damage” has been done to customer confidence in the town while another reports there has been a “catastrophic” impact on traders.

Michelle O’Connell of O’Connell’s Medical Hall on Abbey Street was among a number of business people The Clare Champion contacted about the impact of the ongoing works which are scheduled to be finished late this year.

She outlined that the works have “affected everybody who uses the town”, adding the construction has led to “great uncertainty” with people “confused over where they can and cannot drive in the town”.
