Ard Scoil Ris 2-19 Our Ladys Templemore 1-8
Backboned by six Clare players, Ard Scoil Rís, Limerick justified favouritism when beating Our Lady’s Templemore in the quarter final of the Dr. Harty cup, Munster colleges senior hurling championship at McDonagh park in Nenagh this Friday.
The winners laid the foundations for this win in the opening half at the end of which they were 2-11 to 1-4 in front after playing with the aid of a slight wind.
They led by the odd point in seven when Colin Crehan (O’Callaghans Mills) struck for their first goal. Four minutes later Micheál O’Loughlin (Clonlara) had their second goal.
Templemore fought back in the second half and cut the deficit to seven points (2-12 to 1-8) but the Limerick city side finished strongly and pulled away to seal their place in the semi-final where they will take on either Hamilton High school from Cork or Dungarvan who play their postponed game on Tuesday next in Mallow.
In addition to the goalscorers, the other Clare players in the Ard Scoil Rís line up were goalkeeper Padraic O’Loughlin (Clonlara), full back Barry Fitzpatrick (Sixmilebridge) and forwards Ian Galvin (Clonlara) and Alex Morey (Sixmilebridge)
