How much detail could he go into about his personal life, the effect of his father Jerome’s death and the slings and arrows of his hurling career, without getting the go-ahead from his family?

FOLLOWING discussions at the April monthly meeting regarding area development, it was agreed that the expertise of the national development officer should be sought.

THE Munster Schools Track and Field Championships were held in blistering sunshine at Cork IT and many Clare schools were represented. There were some outstanding individual performances with athletes capturing nine gold, 13 silver and six bronze medals.

THE Ennis Swimming and Lifesaving Club recently took part in the Munster Age Groups championships which were held at the University of Limerick Sports Arena. There was intense competition over the two-day event and the Ennis club was well represented at all age groups with 52 individual medals won.

KILKEE qualified for the North Munster area final in the Pierce Purcell Shield when they emerged from the weekend competition at Shannon. In the final on Sunday afternoon, they accounted for the host club by three matches to two, with the deciding game having to go to the 19th.

ÉIRE Óg claimed back-to-back U-14B titles on Friday when they defeated Kilkishen by two points at Clooney. The Ennis side registered several wides before an Orla Devitt free got them off the mark.

LEADING officials from the GAA, camogie and handball were in Clare last Thursday night for the official launch of this year’s Féile na nGael at the West County Hotel.
