Scariff back in the Clare Champion Cup

Scariff  2-15   Parteen  0-12 Scariff are back in the Clare Champion Cup (Division 1B) for 2013 after a win over Parteen at the South East Clare club’s venue on Saturday evening.Their semi-final win has also earned them a Division 2 final date with Ruan, who have also been promoted.This is the first season the Division 2 League was not part of the Clare Champion Cup.  Scariff’s experience proved vital in helping them win promotion.Kenny McNamara scored both their goals, while Ross Horan added 0-8 as they proved too strong for a home side who were short a number of first-choice players.Scariff led by a goal, 1-8 to 0-8, at the interval. Parteen had the better of the early ­exchanges in the second half and cut the deficit to the minimum but from here on, the visitors had the better of matters and Kenny McNamara’s second goal, shortly before the final whistle, sealed victory. Kilmaley 1-3   Newmarket 1-2 SUPPORTERS were treated to a thriller when Kilmaley and Newmarket battled it out for the U-13B Shield title. In the end, it was Kilmaley who claimed the prize, despite the fact that Newmarket were in front for most of the match.

Clare bow out of u-16 championship

  Dublin 3-13   Clare 0-8 DESPITE a strong first-half showing, Clare suffered a comprehensive defeat from Dublin in Round 2 of the All-Ireland U-16 Championship at Clooney on Sunday.Behind by just a point, 0-7 to 0-8, at half-time, there were hopes the home side would get ahead in the second half but the visitors dominated this period.Dublin had two points scored within four minutes with Clare replying with points form Kate O’Gorman and Orla Devitt. Dublin had the next score but Clare’s Kate O’Gorman pushed the home side ahead with a pointed free and an excellent point from play. The next eight minutes belonged to the visitors with points from Orla Beagan, Aoife Molloy and two from Tara O’Flaherty.
