Scariff back in the Clare Champion Cup

Scariff  2-15   Parteen  0-12

Scariff are back in the Clare Champion Cup (Division 1B) for 2013 after a win over Parteen at the South East Clare club’s venue on Saturday evening.
Their semi-final win has also earned them a Division 2 final date with Ruan, who have also been promoted.
This is the first season the Division 2 League was not part of the Clare Champion Cup.  Scariff’s experience proved vital in helping them win promotion.
Kenny McNamara scored both their goals, while Ross Horan added 0-8 as they proved too strong for a home side who were short a number of first-choice players.
Scariff led by a goal, 1-8 to 0-8, at the interval.
Parteen had the better of the early exchanges in the second half and cut the deficit to the minimum but from here on, the visitors had the better of matters and Kenny McNamara’s second goal, shortly before the final whistle, sealed victory.

Scariff: Shane Mulvihill; Barry McNamara, Darragh Kelly, Pádraig Brody; Cathal Nash, Diarmuid Nash, Matthew Horan; Jim Minogue, Alphie Rodgers; Conor McNamara, Shane Corry, Kenny McNamara; John Scanlan, Ross Horan, Austin Madden.

Intermediate league
Clarecastle and Éire Óg will battle it out for the final semi-final spot in the Intermediate Hurling League after wins over Clonlara and Meelick at the weekend.
The Townies had a goal to spare over Meelick on Saturday when the final score was 1-12 to 0-12.
The game’s only goal proved decisive and it was a fortunate score, Liam Corry’s delivery from midfield slipped past the Meelick defence midway through the first-half.
Meelick were 0-8 to 1-2 in front at the break but Éire Óg dominated the second half to keep their hopes of the title alive.
On Sunday evening, Clarecastle easily overcame the challenge of Clonlara. The winners were five points clear, 0-7 to 0-2, at half-time and they maintained their dominance in the second half. Jason Considine (5) and Pakie Healy (4) were their top scorers.

Junior A final

Kilmaley and Tubber will contest the Junior A League final following their semi-final wins at the weekend.
Kilmaley were 0-18 to 1-4 winners over O’Callaghan’s Mills with Killian McNamara contributing 0-10 to their tally. McNamara is a former member of the Mills club. Declan Donovan scored the game’s only goal.
The other semi-final was a much closer affair, with Tubber emerging with two points to spare over St Joseph’s.
