Attention switches to provincial and national finals


Following the Munstergroup Clare Community Games athletic finals, which  took at Lees Road last week, the winners on the day are now turning their thoughts towards the national finals, which will be held in Athlone next month.

Twenty areas shared the medals, with Ennis St John’s winning 19 of the 49 events, Quin/Clooney six Clarecastle/Ballyea four, Doora/Barefield three, Clonlara, Cooraclare/Cree and Doonbeg two each while 11 areas had one win each. The gold medal winners in each event will represent Clare in the national finals in Athlone on August 25 and 26. In the meantime, the Munster team event finals will take place at the University of Limerick on Saturday week.
Those who will represent Clare at the National finals are:

The Munster Community Games finals for team events and judo will be held in UL on Saturday week, July 14.  Clare will be represented in most events and the details are:
Basketball U-11 mixed: Clare v Tipperary in semi-final Court 1 at 12.30pm.
Basketball boys U-13: Clare v Limerick in semi-final court 1 at 10.50am.
Basketball girls U-13: Clare v Kerry in semi-final court 2 at 11.50am.
Basketball boys U-16: Clare v Kerry in preliminary round court 2 at 10am.
