Trump Doonbeg hit by Storm Hannah

TWO holes at Trump International in Doonbeg have been adversely affected overnight by Storm Hannah. Sand from Doughmore Beach has covered holes one and 18 from tee to green. Work is ongoing today (Saturday) on the holes. The course is closed today as a result. Trump Doonbeg is currently seeking the go ahead from Clare County Council to proceed with coastal protection works. ESB working to restore power

ESB Networks crews have been continuing efforts to repair the electricity network since first light this morning, restoring power to 4,000 homes, farms and businesses in Clare that lost supply due to the impact of Storm Hannah. At the height of the storm this morning, 33,000 customers nation-wide were impacted, and efforts continue throughout the day to restore power to the remaining 11,000 customers. All available resources from ESB Networks are deployed to carry out repairs to the network and restore power. Additional crews from less impacted areas of the country are deploying in areas of West Munster that have seen the most of the storm damage. These include Clare, the Iveragh and Dingle peninsulas, North Kerry, West Limerick and parts of Tipperary. The damage to the electricity network is mainly attributable to trees falling on overhead lines as a result of the high winds.

Council issue Storm Hannah advice

CLARE County Council is asking members of the public to stay indoors and to avoid all travel from 8pm to 11.00pm tonight after Met Éireann issued a red level warning for Clare. Met Éireann says north-westerly winds, associated with Storm Hannah, will reach mean speeds in excess of 80km/h with violent gusts of 130 to 150 km/h for a time this evening. The most severe winds will gradually ease as the night goes on.  A Status Orange Wind warning for Clare will be in effect from 4pm to 8pm this evening and again from 11pm tonight until 1am tomorrow morning. The local authority is urging the public not to travel during the red level warning period tonight and says that overnight travel thereafter should only be undertaken if absolutely necessary.  Organisers of events taking place in Clare this evening are being advised to postpone events in the interests of public safety due. Status Red alert for Clare as Storm Hannah hits

MET Éireann has issued a Status Red warning for Clare from 8pm to 11pm this (Friday) evening. Storm Hannah is due to peak this evening with gusts of 150km per hour expected along the western seaboard. This is the fifth alert issued in relation to Storm Hannah. People are advised to stay indoors and not to drive during the alert.
