TRINITY College Dublin have issued a statement following the death of one of their students, after a tragic fall at the Cliffs of Moher last Friday afternoon. The man is from India and it is understood that the tragedy happened when he was taking a photograph. The nearby Doolin Coast Guard unit responded to the accident as did Shannon based Rescue 115, which searched the area, where the man had fallen in. The man was removed to Doolin where he was pronounced dead. He was then removed to University Hospital Limerick for a postmortem.“We are deeply saddened by the tragic death of one of our students at the Cliffs of Moher on Friday afternoon. A woman is recovering in hospital after she sustained a head injury when she slipped on rocks at Clahanes, near Liscannor, yesterday evening. The woman in her 50’s had been walking along the shoreline when the accident happened. The alarm was raised by a passerby who called the ambulance service. The Irish Coast Guard was requested to assist and the Doolin unit of the volunteer service assisted paramedics recover the patient and take her across the rocks to a waiting ambulance before being removed to University Hospital Limerick.

THE number of anti-social complaints about residents of local authority houses in Ennis has fallen. In 2012 there were six non-drug related anti-social behaviour complaints made to the council, while in 2013 that figure was five latest figures have shown. There were no drug related anti-social behaviour complaints made in either 2012 or 2013. A total of 46 complaints relating to nuisance or breach of tenancy were made to the council in 2013, up slightly from 44 in the previous year. While the number of warning letters issued is also down, from seven in 2012 to just two in 2013. The figures, contained in the annual report for the estate management unit of Ennis Town Council, show an overall downward trend in issues surrounding local authority housing in the town.
