Musical theatre exam success for school

A CHILDREN’S performing arts school in Ennis has passed its first group musical theatre examinations with the prestigious London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA).

Stagecoach Clare, which runs from Cois na hAbhna after-school on Fridays, was entered in for the examinations in December following their performance of Olivia by Malcolm Sircom. In total, 37 students, aged seven to 17 presented Scene 3, a seven-minute musical scene involving two musical numbers, original choreography and one acting scene for the LAMDA entry level categoryr. The result gave a pass mark of distinction, with 81% to all children and teenagers entered.
Stagecoach Clare principal John Lucey said, “This is a wonderful testament to the hard work our teachers and students put in over the last six months. These are challenging times. I’m hoping this bit of good news lifts a few hearts and I’m very proud of our students,” he commented.
