GORT Cancer Support in Hollyblue House, Garrabeg, Gort, will host a “wellness evening” with guest speakers on Wednesday next, May 18.
“Many of us are struggling to stay positive, at home and in work, due to the sheer multitude and scale of some of the challenges we are facing,” a spokesperson for the service said.
“None more so than people affected by a cancer diagnosis. You do not have to suffer in silence though. You are not alone and there are plenty of practical everyday steps you can take to alleviate any stress or anxiety you may be experiencing.
“With just the right blend of knowledge, insight and instruction, there is a whole host of positive actions you can take to improve your outlook and mood.”
The wellness evening is open to everyone and offers an opportunity to call in and listen to any or all of the speakers. Expert advice will be available from Marie Skelly, of Alternative Healthiness who will be giving advice on the benefits of Muscle Wellness and the importance of exercise and the benefits of reflexology at 5pm.
At 6pm, Fiona McDonagh, of the Lámh Clinic, will speak about the holistic benefits of Acupuncture and Meditation.
Maura Dolan, Adult and Adolescent Counsellor, will speak on Mental Wellness at 7pm.
She will also talk about the benefits of counselling, cogitative behavioural therapy (CBT) and play therapy.
Deirdre McGreevy of Clarin Acupuncture and Wellness will speak on ‘Fatigue to Enduring Energy’ at 8pm.
Deirdre will discuss simple strategies that people can use straight away to learn how to feel better, life fully and thrive
The centre’s sensory therapy garden will be open to all to enjoy the peace and tranquility between talks.
All talks are free of charge and light refreshments will be served.
