GALLERY: Banner plan for the future as they celebrate wins

180 players and supporters were present at the Hotel Woodstock on Friday evening for the dinner dance social held by the Banner GAA club, reports Michael O’Connor. On the night they were celebrating huge progress on and off the field. MC for the night Liam Reilly welcomed one and all to the event in which Junior B hurling championship medals from 2020, Junior A football championship medals from 2021, U-21C hurling medals from 2021 and several league titles that were won also saw medal presentations. The 2021 minor B football title winning squad will receive their medals soon.

The various guests of honour present included vice-chairperson of Clare GAA Michael O’Connor, former Clare senior hurling manager Donal Moloney and current Clare senior football manager Colm Collins. All spoke about the huge strides that have been successfully implemented in recent years and the youthful vigour that exists within the club. Mention was made of so many others who had worked over the years to bring the club to where it now stands as a vibrant dual club within the town of Ennis. The efforts of the young squad that is now playing at Intermediate football and Junior A hurling leave was referred to by all speakers and it was hoped that further success could come their way in the coming seasons as well as solidifying their presence at these levels and perhaps higher in the coming seasons.

Notice was duly given to the strong and growing representation of the club in various underage hurling and football development squads with glowing tributes reserved for Clare senior hurling panellist Shane Meehan and how he along with other emerging players in the Banner club are serving as role models for the younger players. The successful efforts of the Ladies football club within the Banner GAA family was duly recorded by all present. Colm Collins and Donal Moloney presented the medals to the various winning teams.
