EDDI Reader is set to return to Clare once this year, where she will perform in Glór this February. The Scottish singer sold out her last gig at the Ennis venue and tickets for this year’s concert are sure to sell fast.
The internationally acclaimed Scottish songstress will return to Clare as part of a 13-date nationwide tour, marking Eddi’s third consecutive Irish tour. She will be joined by her band including John Douglas, Boo Hewerdine and Irish piano accordionist, Alan Kelly.
Eddi has had a long and varied career. She was brought into the limelight with Fairground Attraction and their single Perfect and album First of a Million Kisses, which both topped the British charts. However, it has been her subsequent solo albums which signalled her increasing ability to assimilate different musical styles and make them all very much her own. She has effortlessly developed into one of popular music’s most thrilling and affecting performers.
2010 saw Eddi play sold-out shows promoting her Love Is The Way CD all over the world, including Ennis.
It also brought Eddi’s Hollywood movie debut as she featured in Richard Linklater’s Me And Orson Welles with Zak Efron and Clare Danes. Eddi plays a chanteuse in the movie and is featured singing Let’s Pretend That There’s A Moon with the Jools Holland Orchestra. The original soundtrack features another two performances from Eddi. Eddi is preparing a new album for release in the late summer-autumn of 2011.
Eddi Reader will perform in Glór, Ennis on Wednesday, February 16 at 8pm. For more details, visit www.glor.ie
