THE Ashford Court Hotel, a 27-bedroom boutique hotel in Ennis, realised €305,000 at the Allsops distressed property auction in Dublin last Friday.
A total of 150 lots went under the hammer at the auction and the Ennis hotel exceeded its reserve price by €90,000. The hotel, on the Old Mill Road, comprises a building arranged over a ground and three upper floors.
The property, which also includes a restaurant, bar area and ancillary accommodation, was put up for sale by receiver Kieran Wallace of KPMG and attracted interest from several bidders.
No sale was achieved with the auction of The Kilkee Bay Hotel. The landmark building on the Kilrush Road had a maximum reserve price of €315,000 – similar to the value of a four-bedroom house in the resort just five years ago.
The Kilkee Bay Hotel forms a two-storey property. The bar, kitchens and function room are all situated within one wing of the ground floor while the bedrooms are situated on a separate wing of the ground floor and across the first floor. The property extends to over 108,000ft2.
A spokesperson for Allsop Space couldn’t confirm if the property would be put up for auction a second time saying he would have to await instructions from the owners.
Meanwhile, a four-bedroom detached house, in the Harbour View development in Mountshannon, which requires internal works of completion, met its reserve price of €125,000.
