“I’m very excited. It really is amazing. We have a silver grey Prada handbag, with a big cluster of crystals on the front that has been worn by Kate Winslet to give to one lucky person. As well as having been owned by the star, it is the sort of bag you could wear everyday,” explained committee member, Gwen Culligan.
The committee is offering those who go to the show the chance to buy a ticket and put their name and number on it. At the end of the night, a ticket will be drawn and the winner will be called as part of the Dial-a-Bag competition.
The committee has also secured a poster signed by Oscar winner Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio. The poster is from the film Titanic, widely acknowledged to have launched both actors to international stardom.
“I had been told I was getting a poster but I didn’t know what to expect. When I opened the parcel I thought you just couldn’t get anything better. Titanic is one of the most famous films of our generation. It appeals to all ages and is signed by its two stars,” Gwen continued.
The poster will be the subject of a telephone auction, with the phoneline opening this Thursday morning.
The Ennis Fashion Week Committee, in association with Ennis Chamber, will be accepting bids for the poster by telephone on 086 2222274. Text bids will not be accepted.
The auction will commence at 9am on Thursday and finish at the end of the Boutique Chic Fashion Show in Glór on Thursday, March 18.
All proceeds of the auction will go directly to The Haven Partnership in Haiti. Donations are also being accepted.
