History was made at Cusack Park this Good Friday evening as Feakle-Killanena won the county under 21 A championship title for the first time in the club’s history while Corofin captured their first ever title at this level when they were victorious in the C final. In both cases the defending champions were defeated, Inagh-Kilnamona in the A and Scariff in the C in a double bill that attracted an attendance of 1, 526. Feakle-Killanena 0-16 Inagh-Kilnamona 1-13 Feakle-Killanena showed the greater hunger for success over the sixty minutes in an A final that never really reached the heights expected. Overall, the East Clare combination were better and deserved their narrow win on an evening when they managed to limit the contribution of Inagh-Kilnamona’s key players. Lissycasey and Kilmurry-Ibrickane will meet in the final of the 2016 Clare under 21 A football championship. A 1-12 to 1-7 win over Ennistymon at Corofin on this Saturday afternoon saw Kilmurry move a step closer to adding the under 21 A title to the senior crown they won last month. They had led by the minimum margin at half time when the score was 0-7 to 1-3. Lissycasey qualified for the final last evening, Friday) when they scored a 2-13 to 1-7 win over the Shannon Gaels/Kilmihil combination in a game played under lights at Cooraclare.  Lissycasey laid the foundation for that win in the first half at the end of which they were ten points clear, 2-7 to 0-3, the goals coming from Padraig McNamara and Aaron Griffin. A total of thirty teams will compete for the under 21 A, B and C hurling titles in 2016, the draws for which were earlier this evening at Clareabbey. Kilmaley, holders of the A title will take on the corofin-Ruan combination in the opening round with the winners going on to play Tulla in a quarter final tie. In all there will be ten teams competing for the A title, twelve in the race for the B title while eight clubs will battle it our for the C crown. Ballyea, Kilmaley, Clarecastle and St. Josephs will each have two teams with their ‘second string’ sides competing for the C title. As expected, the Clare team to face Limerick in Thursday evening’s Munster under 21 hurling final is unchanged from that which defeated a fancied Waterford side in the semi-final two weeks ago. A capacity attendance is expected at Cusack Park for the meeting of the neighbouring rivals in the Provincial final when Clare will be seeking their fourth title in a row. Both sides caused surprises in the semi-final when accounting for Waterford and Tipperary who were fancied to get through to the final. The standard of play in both games was high and there is an expectation amongst hurling fans that this final will proved to be o ne of the best in modern times. The game has a throw in time of 7p.m. and Tipperary’s Fergal Horgan will be in charge. There will be extra time in the event of the teams being level at the end of normal time.   By Seamus Hayes All-Ireland final replay weekend got off to a bright start for Cratloe and Clarecastle when they catured the junior A and under 21 B hurling championship titles respectively on Friday evening. Through to the final since early May, the under 21 players from Clarecastle and Feakle-Killanena finally played their final at Dr. Daly Park in Tulla. The magpies led by three points, 1-8 to 1-5 at half time. Feakle-Killanena fought back to within a point of their opponents ten minutes into the second half but the magpies pulled away in the final twenty minutes to secure the title. Meanwhile, at Sixmilebridge, Cratloe scored a narrow win over St. Josephs to claim the junior A crown. The sides were evently matched throughout but a goal in each half proved decisive for Cratloe who won on a final scoreline of 2-11 to 0-15.
