Lotto millionaires ‘tick off bucketlist’

A CLARE couple, who won over €1 million in the EuroMillions last month, plan to use their winnings to go on an exotic holiday and help a local charity. The couple, who wish to remain anonymous, bought their winning ticket in The Spar shop on the Limerick Road in Ennis, opposite St Flannan’s College, on Tuesday, February 23. They scooped a €1,026,063 prize with a €6 Quick Pick ticket in the EuroMillions, with the numbers: 23, 25, 32, 37, 42 and star number 1. Collecting their prize from the National Lottery headquarters on Thursday, the lucky couple said they made a bucket list together a few years ago and are now looking forward to ticking off a few things, including an exotic holiday. Lotto winner to buy Ferrari

A two-seat convertible Ferrari is on the shopping list of a man who won the Lotto on a ticket bought in Ennis on Wednesday. Today (Friday), a married couple who ‘happened to be passing through’ Ennis, collected the Midweek Lotto jackpot of €5,318,671. They purchased their €7.50 Quick Pick Lotto ticket in the Roslevan Stores, Ennis, on Wednesday last, the day of the jackpot draw. This was the first time the store has sold a winning Lotto jackpot ticket. This is the 40th Lotto jackpot to be won from a ticket purchased in County Clare. Clare’s largest jackpot prize of €8,302,209 was won in Kilrush, on March 5, 2014. Today’s lucky couple, who do not wish their win to be a public one, are not from Clare and declared themselves “delighted but not surprised” to have scooped the bigger, better Lotto jackpot. €5.3 million Lotto ticket sold in Roslevan

There is “great excitement” around O’Keeffe’s Shop in Roslevan, Ennis today after last night’s €5.3 million single or syndicate National Lottery winner purchased their ticket in the shop. The lucky €7.50 quick-pick ticket was purchased yesterday in the shop and the place has been a hive of activity ever since. Speaking to The Clare Champion on Thursday owner Thomas O’Keeffe said the shop had been very busy all day with a multitude of local people coming into the shop to check their tickets. “It’s absolutely brillant, there’s been great excitement and a real buzz around here all morning, it’s been unreal,” he said. “The Lotto machine hasn’t stopped.” Mr O’Keeffe said the shop has enjoyed a lot of luck in the past with an Ennis man winning €500,000 on a Winning Streak ticket last year. Lucky seven share €8.3m Lotto Jackpot

A SYNDICATE of seven, who wish to remain anonymous, became instant millionaires when their numbers turned up trumps in the biggest  Lotto jackpot of the year. The syndicate have played Lotto each week for the last two and a half years and their winning ticket was bought in Miniters on Henry Street in Kilrush. It was a mixed-play ticket and a Quick Pick was the winning line that landed them the massive €8.3 million win. This week National Lottery Chief Executive, Dermot Griffin, presented a cheque for €8,302,204 to the delighted winners as they claimed their huge prize at National Lottery offices in Dublin. €8.3 million Lotto ticket sold in Kilrush

Wednesday’s Lotto jackpot of more than €8.3 million was sold in Kilrush. The ticket was bought in Miniter’s Shop on Henry Street on Saturday and according to store owner Mary Miniter Doherty, speculation is rife. “There is great excitement. People are coming in congratulating us,” Mary told The Clare Champion. The winning ticket was a €24 mixed-play ticket, which included Lotto Plus, Quick Pick and individually selected numbers, valid for last Saturday’s and Wednesday’s draws. “It is very distinctive. It was someone’s own numbers and a Quick Pick and for two draws so it is unusual. We haven’t a clue who it is but we are surmising! We are hoping it is a syndicate and I hope it is one of my regular customers. I am a Lotto agent since the Lotto started so I am hoping it is one of my customers,” she added.
