New date for next year’s KPMG Women’s Irish Open in Dromoland

THE KPMG Women’s Irish Open, which is to be held in Dromoland Castle, will take place from August 31 until September 3 in 2023 three weeks earlier in the calendar than this year’s event. More than 24,000 people attended this year’s event at Dromoland Castle’s championship course in September, a record for a women’s golf event in Ireland. Located on the shores of Lough Dromoland, Dromoland Castle’s 18-hole 6,824 yards par 72 championship course, designed by Ron Kirby and JB Carr, was a brilliant setting for the return of the Women’s Irish Open following a ten-year absence. The world class course, undertook a €2 million upgrade in advance of the 2022 tournament, proved to be a demanding and exhilarating test for some of the game’s top golfers in September 2022. Dromoland revenues double on back of €700 average room rate

Revenues at the company that operates the five-star Dromoland Castle are set to double this year on the back of record average room rates. According to long-serving General Manager at Dromoland Castle, Mark Nolan the business has performed ‘strongly’ in 2022 and was able to achieve record average room rates of €700 in July. Mr Nolan was commenting on new accounts which show that Dromoland Castle Holdings Ltd last year recorded pre-tax profits of €891,242 and this followed a pre-tax loss of €3.3 million during the first year of the pandemic in 2020. The business – which also operates the Inn at Dromoland – returned to profit after revenues increased by 68 per cent from €7.23 million to €12.16 million. The hotel reopened to guests on June 2 2021 after a Covid-19 enforced closure for the first five months of the year. Traffic management plan for Women’s Irish Open at Dromoland

A TRAFFIC management plan is to be put in place for the duration of the upcoming KPMG Women’s Irish Open Golf Tournament at Dromoland Castle gardaí have confirmed. The KPMG sponsored Women’s Irish Open golf tournament is scheduled to take place at Dromoland Castle from Thursday, September 22 to Sunday, September 25. The Pro-Am event will take place on Wednesday, September 21. Car parking for the event is free and is located at the Inn at Dromoland. It is open from 7am to 7pm each day and will be manned by parking stewards. The public are being asked to follow the directional signs from the motorway and the directions of Gardaí and parking stewards to assist them in reaching the car park swiftly. “From here patrons can access the golf course with ease. Clare resort to host first Women’s Irish Open in 10 years

Dromoland Castle will host the Women’s Irish Open from September 22 to 25 – the first women’s professional tournament in the country in 10 years. High Court case against Dromoland Castle settled

The finance manager of the world famous Dromoland Castle hotel has settled her High Court action aimed at preventing her purported dismissal. Orla Horgan applied to the High Court for an injunction preventing her employer, Dromoland Castle Holdings Ltd from terminating her employment as finance manager. She claimed she was being made “a scapegoat for fraud at the Five Star hotel” due to suspicious transactions carried out by another employee in the finance department which she had “nothing to do with”. Her lawyers had previously secured permission from the High Court for service of the proceedings at short notice on her employer. The matter returned before Mr Justice Paul Gilligan at the High Court today (Tuesday). Oisin Quinn, SC for Ms Horgan, said the action had been settled and could be struck out.
