SHANNON’S David Hope will launch his new album ‘…And The Sea’ at the Swive stage in Shannon Town Centre on Friday at 6pm. Admission is free for the launch of what is his fifth album, which both lyrically and musically is the deepest dive Hope has taken into his songwriting and recording. Through capturing a mix of raw emotional acoustic tracks and full band epics, this makes for his most complete album to date. David said much of the album relates to a bereavement. “This album is largely my attempt to find the words to deal with the loss of my father, a man I loved to the moon and back and respected deeply. TULLYGLASS based singer and songwriter David Hope is releasing a new single Lovers’ Leap, which is something of a love letter to his native county. “It was inspired by a trip down to Loop Head. I’d spent a fair bit of time down there as a young lad, fishing and all that sort of stuff. “I got a bit captivated by the sea stack, which is right at the end fo the peninsula. It’s called Lovers’ Leap and there’s a whole mythology about that, Cú Chulainn being chased and jumping away from a randy witch as she was chasing him around the country! “She fell down to her death and became this wave that was sinking ships and things like that. As a songwriter you start latching onto these ideas, and, you know, we’re lucky to be from a beautiful place, so that’s where the song came from,” he says. SHANNON singer/songwriter David Hope has a new seasonal release, Christmas Day, which will be heard all around Europe in the coming days. The song takes up the common theme of struggling to get home to loved ones for Christmas, with a rather robust pop-oriented sound. It comes with a funny and entertaining video, which was shot in Lahinch. Christmas Day was chosen as the RTÉ Radio One song, selected for the European Broadcasting Union Christmas Music Project and will feature on a playlist across all member states. The single will also feature on RTÉ Radio One’s Christmas Playlist 2016 and a number of stations in Germany and Austria.
