Scholarship to jump on the Clare Stagecoach

DOES your child like to act, sing and dance? Then look at this great back-to-school incentive with one of Ireland’s foremost theatre schools.
A Stagecoach singing group go through their paces.The Clare Champion and Stagecoach Theatre Arts have teamed up to offer a one-year scholarship with professional dance, singing and drama classes starting on Friday, September 23 at Cois na hAbhna.
Stagecoach Clare in Ennis is part of the world’s largest network of part-time theatre schools for children and teenagers. This brilliant prize is worth €1,300 with a completely free year of lessons in dance, drama and singing, including exams, scripts, cds, young performer magazines, plus lots of goodies and performing opportunities throughout the whole year.
The scholarship runs for the next three academic terms from 4.30pm to 7.30pm each Friday. The Stagecoach schools, which offer high quality training in a safe environment, have no auditions.
No previous experience of drama or singing is required to enter this competition. All children need is enthusiasm and to explain in 50 to 100 words (maximum) why they would like to win The Clare Champion/Stagecoach scholarship. The competition is open to all children and teenagers, aged seven to 18, and the deadline is noon on Thursday, September 15.
County Clare Stagecoach principal, John Lucey said, “We are delighted to be working with The Clare Champion on this fabulous initiative and I’m sure it will be an exciting time for the lucky boy or girl who wins.”
John continued, “Being part of Stagecoach is an investment in children’s education. It gives them great confidence and helps them to develop the creative part of their mind.
“Our Friday evening class in Cois na hAbhna in Ennis is a really enjoyable experience. It’s at the end of the school week, children are in a great mood, relaxed and a great atmosphere prevails.”

Clare Champion editor, Austin Hobbs said the Stagecoach scholarship is a fantastic opportunity for some young reader to get involved in theatrical drama.
“This is very much in line with The Clare Champion’s tradition of supporting the sporting, cultural and artistic endeavours of the county’s youth. Our annual second level school’s short story competition is one of most successful promotions and has attracted over 1,000 in five years,” he said.
