CLARE singer-songwriter Lou McMahon will be the special guest at the Limerick SongWriter Sessions next week.
The sessions continue upstairs at Foley’s Bar, Sarsfield Street, Limerick, on January 27 from 9pm.
McMahon’s powerful singing voice and quirky lyrics have attracted the attention of well-known musician Terry Woods, with whom Lou is developing her art. Lou has shared the stage with many respected and wonderful artists such as Mundy, Jack L, Freddie White, David Hope and Mary Coughlan.
As usual at the sessions, all aspiring songwriters are invited to attend and play their songs in front of a live audience. All types of music and singers are welcome. A limited amount of instruments will be available for use on the night.
Singers at the session will also have an opportunity to get a YouTube video of the performance, which can be uploaded onto their site. Performances will also be recorded and broadcast as a podcast at a later date. The hosts for the sessions are songwriters Brian Connolly, Chris Wood and Sean Macleod.
As the venue develops into a hotspot for new talent in Limerick, plans are afoot to invite recording artists, producers, managers and publishers -anyone who may be looking for fresh new songs. SongWriter Sessions@FoleysBar is a regular feature of the live music scene in Limerick and takes place every Thursday of the month.
If you wish to play, contact Brian Connolly at limericksongwriters@gmail.com to book a spot or turn up on the night. Further details are available from www.myspace.com/limericksongwriters or http://limericksongwriters.blogspot.com
Admission is free.
