Kilrush all set to step it out

KILRUSH is the place to be from August 7-11 as the fifth Traditional Music and Set Dancing Festival takes place.
Things will kick off on Wednesday, August 7 with a seisiún at Teach Cheoil at 9pm. On the Thursday night, there will be a singers club with Jerry McNamara at the Haven Arms beginning at 10pm.

Things will go into full swing on the Friday. Beginning at 10am, there will be a sean nós dancing workshop with Aidan Vaughan. It will continue until 12.30pm.

From 1-4pm there will be a set dancing workshop with Mike Mahony at the same venue, while at 6.45pm the official opening will take place. There will be a céilí in the Square at 7pm with music by the Brian Boru Céilí Band. Throughout the evening there will be music in the town’s bars.

The first event on Saturday will be a set dancing workshop with Mike Mahony at Teach Ceoil. There will also be an open air session in the Square beginning at 11am, while from 1.30-2.30pm there will be a sean nós dancing workshop in Teach Ceoil with Aidan Vaughan.

At 2.30 there will be a second open air céilí in the Square with the Johnny Reidy Céilí Band, while an U-18 concertina competition will start at 3pm. At 8pm there will be a concert at Teach Ceoil and music in the town’s pubs from 10pm.

Sunday morning will start with an open air session in the Square at 12.30pm. At 3pm there will be music from the Vandeleur Walled Garden with Inis Cathaigh CCE and friends. That evening from 7-9.30pm there will be a céilí in the Square with the Five Counties Band, while there will be music in the town’s pubs from 10pm.
