Clooney-Quin 3-12   O’Callaghan’s Mills 0-9

Despite being reduced to 14 men in the first half, Clooney-Quin proved too strong for O’Callaghans Mills at Tulla on Saturday.
The winners were 1-7 to 0-3 ahead at half time and continued to hold the upperhand in the second half.
The first goal came when a Peter Duggan line ball from 40m took a deflection off a ’Mills defender on the way to the net. Conor Clune saw red after 20 minutes but despite this blow the winners continued to hole the advantage.
The Mills had the better of the exchanges in the third quarter and closed the gap to four points with three unanswered scores.
A goal from John Reynolds turned the tie back in favour of the winners and they held on for a merited
win and a place in the semi-final
on a day when five of the O’Callaghan’s Mills forwards were substituted.

Parteen-Meelick 3-10   Wolfe Tones 2-10

Two goals from Padraic O’Connor and one from Oisin Hickey helped South East Clare combination, Parteen-Meelick to this victory over Wolfe Tones at Kilkishen on Sunday.
The win has set up a South East Clare derby quarter-final tie on this Sunday, as they will play Smith O’Brien’s.
This was a very entertaining tie in which both sides gave of their all in search of progress to the next round. Wolfe Tones decision to play senior county panellist Aaron Cunningham around midfield – he was sometimes back helping out their defence – robbed the forward line of his scoring potential.
Underfoot conditions weren’t good and this resulted in a lot of stoppages for throw-ins. They traded goals in the opening minutes with Kevin Mc Cafferty’s strike for the Shannon side cancelled out by a Padraic O’Connor effort for the winners.
Midway through the half, Wolfe Tones conceded goals to Dara Quinn and O’Connor and these were to prove costly as the South East Clare side went on to lead 3-2 to 1-6 at half time.
They were five points clear at the three quarter stage. Cunningham who was now at full-forward and Padraic O’Connor exchanged points before Guilfoyle found McCafferty whose fast hand pass found the inrushing Cunningham and he found the net. However, it wasn’t enough and the winners went onto record a three point win and secure their passage to the next round.

Parteen-Meelick: Roy Duffy (Meelick); Jason Smith (Parteen), Phil Lavin (Parteen), Bobby Sherlock (Meelick); Colin Ryan (Meelick), Damian Moloney (Meelick), Adam Sherlock (Meelick); Martin Moroney (Parteen), Gary Callinan (Meelick); Cian McCarthy (Parteen), Dara Quinn (Meelick, 1-2), David Small (Parteen); Padraic O’Connor (Parteen, 2-4), Sean O’Connor (Meelick, 0-4), Oisin Hickey (Meelick).
Sub: Kevin McGleenan (Parteen) for C Ryan.
Wolfe Tones: Chris Maguire; Damian O’Toole, Niall Murphy, Stephen Touhy; Sean Reidy, David Ryan, Steve Simmonds; Craig O’Brien, Martin O’Connell; John Guilfoyle (0-1), Sean Brennan, Kevin McCafferty (1-0); Andrew Shanagher, Ciarán Agrue, Aaron Cunningham (1-9).
Sub: Bobby Claire for Reidy (inj).
