Feakle-Killanena 9-22   Scariff-Ogonnelloe 4-10

Last year’s beaten finalists Feakle-Killanena served notice of their intentions when the U-21C Hurling Championship got underway on Saturday as they proved too strong for Scariff-Ogonnelloe at Bodyke.
In the highest scoring tie of the weekend, they proved too strong for their neighbours and deservingly booked a place in the semi-final.
Owen McMahon and Cillian Bane each scored 2-4 with Oisin Donnellan adding 2-2 for the winners, who were well on their way to the next round when they led 6-11 to 1-5 at half time.
Todd Kelsey, Gary Guilfoyle and Justin Nelson were the other goalscorers. Mark Mulvihill scored three goals for the losers.

Whitegate 5-23   Éire Óg 0-8

As the scoreline suggests, Whitegate were never troubled as they overcame the challenge of Éire Óg in this first round game at Killanena on Sunday.
Whitegate were well on their way to the next round by half time when they led 3-16 to 0-2.
Colin Bleach and Colin Burke scored two goals each, while Liam Sugrue was the other goal scorer.

Tubber made a winning start to their campaign when they accounted for Parteen at Ballyea on Monday.
Playing with the aid of the breeze in the first half, Tuber opened a four-point lead by half time.
Parteen fought back strongly but just could not manage to get on terms and Tubber held on for a merited win and a semi-final date against Ruan.

Meelick 4-12   Newmarket 1-10

Oisin Hickey with 2-3 and Sean O’Connor with 1-6 were the chief scorers as Meelick accounted for Newmarket at Clooney. Dara Quinn (0-3) and Gary Callinan (1-0) were the other scorers for the winners.

Ruan 1-10   Sixmilebrige 1-8

Ruan qualified for an U-21C semi-final meeting with Tubber when they defeated Sixmilebridge at Clarecastle on Monday, where a strong wind made matters difficult for the players.
The winners had the assistance of a strong wind in the first half and raced into an early 0-5 to 0-1 lead with Sean Cullinan, Killian Ryan (0-2 each) and Brendan Lyons on the mark in response to a Sean Lynch effort.
The ’Bridge reduced the gap to the minimum when Lynch blasted to the net after he fielded a Paul Finnan line ball after ten minutes. In the 22nd minute, Ruan were awarded a 20m free that Killian Ryan struck to the net before Lyons quickly added to it with another point. Ruan led 1-8 to 1-2 at half time.
Brendan Lyons and Stephen Mulready traded early second half scores before the ’Bridge added long range scores from Kevin Fennessy and Sean Lynch to reduce the lead to four at the start of the final quarter.
The ’Bridge battled hard and reduced the lead to two but Ruan held on for victory and a place in the semi-final.
