Treaty Celtic            3 West Clare FC         2There was a major shock in the third division when league leaders and hot favourites, West Clare FC, were defeated by Treaty Celtic, who have been struggling throughout the campaign.

Coláiste Muire, Ennis has been selected to take part in the Volleyball Association of Ireland’s transition year girls spikeball leaders award programme. This initiative is funded by the Irish Sports Council ‘Women in Sport’ project encouraging girls to actively participate in sport.

Ennis                        11UL Bohemians       10ENNIS won the North Munster U-13 League last Sunday at St Senan’s grounds in Shannon, by beating UL Bohemians in a thrilling replay that went right down to the final whistle. This win has given this very talented panel of players an unbeaten league run for the season, in what was their first season playing a full 15-a-side game.

IN excess of 100 competitors took part in the Ennis duathlon at Lees Road on Sunday.

ST Flannan’s, Scoil Mhuire Ennistymon, Kilrush and Spanish Point schools were all represented at the All-Ireland Schools and  Irish Universities Cross Country Championships, which were held at St Mary’s College, Galway last Saturday.

CLARE and Limerick will meet in the opening round of the Munster U-21 Football Championship for the fourth year in-a-row. The game will take place next Wednesday evening at the Gaelic Grounds, which was also the venue last year after the previous two meetings had been at Clare venues.

Martin McMahon was still feeling the odd twinge and strain on Monday, following Clare’s one-point win over Limerick. The Kilmurry Ibrickane club man was one of Clare’s outstanding performers, repeatedly putting himself on the line for the county. The bangs and bruises would have felt more tender if Clare hadn’t won and re-ignited their league campaign.
