THERE aren’t many musicians you can describe as ‘out of this world’ without it sounding like a bold claim. But for Cork singer songwriter  Ger Wolfe, who performs in Crusheen this month, this description is literally true.His new single A Song from Earth, taken from his new album No Bird Sang was specially written as a birthday present for American astronaut Dan Tani last year, and the song was beamed on board the International Space Station. Dan had been stuck on board the station after technical problems grounded the space shuttle. The astronaut is married to Cork woman Jane Egan and in February last year, a special celebration was organised at Cork’s Blackrock Castle Observatory for Dan’s birthday so he could speak from space with his in-laws, local schoolchildren and others. ONE of Ireland’s most influential bands Moving Hearts will be performing at University Concert Hall Limerick this September along with special guests. They will be coming to the Mid-West venue on September 12 as part of their Unfinished Business’tour.  

WITH a host of performances in Lisdoonvarna this month, September will certainly be a busy time for singer Muriel O’Connor. Both Muriel and musical partner, Michael Cahill, have already performed in Shannon this month and are set to bring their show to Lisdoonvarna’s Royal Spa Hotel for a number of dates, from September 5 to 18, with plans to showcase her new single.

Stylish rockers Oddsocks Revival are coming to Ennis to play in The Library Bar this Friday. The Sligo band will take to the stage at 10pm for a night of head bopping blues rock.These four talented lads have been playing together since the summer of 2003 and have developed a powerful connection on stage which is evident at every gig.
