The fifth annual Tommy White Memorial and the 38th Moy Open Sports Day was held in Moy GAA on Sunday in bright sunshine. There were big entries for all the races.
The 3,000m was the first race of the day and Julio Cesear F Castro (Kilmurry Ibrickane-North Clare) and Patrick Cassidy (Glaslough Harriers Monaghan) along with Willie Devitt and Eoin Looney, both Kilmurry Ibrickane-North Clare, made the early running.
Over six laps Castro stamped his authority on the race and he led all the way to take the Michael White Memorial Shield that was presented to him by Ann White.
In second place was Patrick Cassidy with a battle for third with Eoin Looney coming with a late finish to pip Willie Devitt.
Kilmurry Ibrickane-North Clare won the team title.
The ladies 3,000m was also well contested with Aisling Kelly, St John’s, and Sharon Rynne, Kilmurry Ibrickane-North Clare, the early leaders with Elaine Shannon Kilmurry Ibrickane-North Clare well in contention.
Over the final two laps Aisling Kelly dominated this race to pull away and win the Tommy White Memorial Shield which was presented by Ann White with Sharon Rynne taking second spot ahead of Elaine Shannon.

The Best Overall Athlete award for the Michael White Memorial Trophy went to Elaine Shannon (Kilmurry Ibrickane-North Clare) for the second year-in-a-row.
