Division 6 League title for Kilmurry Ibrickane

Kilmurry Ibrickane 0-9   O’Curry’s 1-5 AT half-time, it looked as if Kilmurry Ibrickane would have no problem capturing the 2013 Division 6 Football League title. At that stage, they led 0-7 to 0-0, with O’Curry’s not clicking in front of goal. Ironically, the county’s second most-westerly club kicked eight first-half wides, which indicates that they weren’t completely outplayed; they just couldn’t score.

Minor victory for Inagh-Kilnamona

Inagh-Kilnamona 2-10   Feakle/Broadford 0-7 THE opening 10 minutes of the Minor A contest was close, with neither side yielding to the opposition. Inagh-Kilnamona opened the scoring with a free and had 1-5 on the scoreboard before Feakle/Broadford registered their first score, when Regan Conway converted a free.

Madison in Paradise with €20k win

Paradise Madison is back in business and looks a bright Derby prospect after winning the final of the townviewfoods.com Champion Stakes in Shelbourne Park last Saturday night. He claimed the €20.000 prize in fine style for joint owners Dave Buckley and Sean Meade, Annagh, Miltown Malbay and trainer Ollie Bray.

The road to Athlone

  Over the past number of weeks, 169 young athletes from all corners of Clare have been busy preparing for the national Community Games finals, which will take place at Athlone IT over the weekend of August 15 to 17. The competitors, in a variety of disciplines, will be attempting to maintain Clare’s great record at All-Ireland level. An eight-person team (four boys and four girls) will compete in the U-16 marathon. They are Caoimhe Harvey (Carrigaholt-Cross); Elaine Shannon (Ennistymon-Lahinch-Liscannor); Sharon Egan (Kilmihil); Grainne Kelly (Doora-Barefield); Sean Collins (Ennis St John’s); Eoin Looney (Miltown); Stephen Maher (Ballynacaly-Lissycasey) and Micheal Clancy (Doonbeg). Ennis St John’s will represent Clare in the mixed U-10 relay and their team members are Naomi O’Shaughnessy, Jeremiah Iwalewa, Cian O’Boyle, Ciara Meehan, Efe Opuoro and Niamh Cassidy. Ennis St John’s also carry Clare hopes in the boys U-12 relay with Gabriel Kehinde, Tuynmise Badewa-Ekungba, Sultan Akinwale, Chibikem Okoye, Derick Sholarin, and David Onwudiwe. They will also be …

Geraldine’s 37 points best at Dromoland

Maria Nolan’s lady captain’s day at Dromoland was held last Saturday and the event proved a huge success.The leading seven players all scored 37 points, with Geraldine Ryan finishing in top spot ahead of Mary Ann Sheils and they were followed by Julie Newman, Angela White, Julie Fitzgerald and Karina Doyle. The gross winner was Dorothy Brennan, who also scored 37 points, while the nines were won by Dorothea Madden and Mary O’Donnell, both with 21 points.
