Lissycasey 3-16   Cratloe 0-1

AFTER the disappointment of losing to Ennistymon in Round 2 of the Clare Minor Football Championship, Lissycasey bounced back with a convincing win over Cratloe at the South-East Clare club’s venue in Round 3.
With a much changed line-out, the visitors controlled this game from the outset and would not have been flattered by a much bigger winning margin.

With central attackers Ciarán Doohan (centre-forward) and Michael O’Malley contributing 1-9, Lissycasey were never in trouble. Doohan’s goal came in the first half and helped the winners to a 1-12 to 0-1 interval lead.

Indeed, that lead could have been greater but Cratloe goalie Eoin O’Kelly made a fine save from Conor Finnucane’s penalty midway through the half.

Early in the second half, Lissycasey won another penalty and this time Finnucane sent O’Kelly the wrong way as he converted. Lissycasey’s third goal came from Cathal Fitzgerald a short time later.
