THE Hub Café in Chapel Lane, Ennis, has come up with a great way of supporting up-and-coming artists.
This Saturday the café will be unveiling its first art display, showcasing the work of young graduates of the Limerick School of Art and Design 2008 painting class.
Artists Cormac O’Farrell, Sarah Bolger, Padraic Leahy and Rory Prout will all have works on display on the walls of the Hub Café.
Cormac said that he is delighted with the opportunity to show some of his artwork.
“It’s going to be a great day. We’re all really excited to see how our works will be received in Ennis. In times like these it’s difficult for anyone in the art industry to get a leg up.
“The Hub has been great to give us this space for free. It opens up a whole new audience for all of us,” he said.
Brian Fitzpatrick, chairman of The Hub Café said, “The lads came to us with the idea of using our space to display their works and we were more than happy to help them out. We are open to new ideas and will facilitate anything that’s positive for The Hub. We hope there are more creative people out there because we still have a lot of wall space to fill”.
To add to the artistic atmosphere this Saturday, there will be music from a number of well-known Hub members, including Siomha Brock and La Casa Roja, as well as newcomer Lou Mahon and her band.
All art on display is for sale directly from the artists, who will be at The Hub on Saturday, or contact the Hub at hub.ennis@gmail.com.
