Tastings and talks for Organic Week

NATIONAL Organic Week began on Monday and two North Clare businesses are taking part. The Burren Smokehouse Visitor Centre and St Tola Farm are both taking part in the week, which is coordinated by Bord Bia.
Inagh Farmhouse Cheese is holding an open day on Friday, when members of the public are invited to come and visit goats and sample the full range of organic goats cheeses made at the farm in Inagh.
National Organic Week has been held annually since 2005. It is funded by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine. National Organic Week 2012 aims to continue to raise consumer awareness of the benefits of organic produce and increase the frequency of consumption of locally produced organic food.
St Tola Organic Goats recently won awards for their organic cheeses and have expanded their product lines. In May of this year, the St Tola Log won a prize in the Premio Roma Awards in Italy.
“We are delighted with these awards as they are important and well recognised within the industry and reflect the hard work and dedication of my whole team,” said Siobhán Ní Ghairbhith.
St Tola has also been invited to the National Organic Awards in Dublin this Thursday. On the open day, gates will be open from 11am to 3pm.
At the Burren Smokehouse Visitor Centre in Lisdoonvarna there will be a tastings and talks on organic salmon.
