Coláiste Muire, Ennis hold off Scariff Community College to take camogie title

County Senior A Post-Primary Schools Camogie Championship Final Coláiste Muire 2-14 Scariff Community College 1-9 Coláiste Muire completed another memorable season when holding off chief rivals Scariff Community College for the second successive year to capture the marquee post-primary schools honours in Fr. McNamara Park on Tuesday afternoon. Leading from start to finish, crucial goals at either end of the tie bookended a dominant display led by scorers-in-chief Aisling Costelloe, Evie Scanlon and Elisha Rynne along with Aisling Moroney and Cliodha Queally. Scariff Community College meanwhile never reached the heights of previous performances or perhaps weren’t let by an Ennis side that got off to an ideal start with 1-4 without reply. Under 15 schools hurling final St Joseph’s Tulla 4-8 St Anne’s Killaloe 4-6 With school ending for the Christmas break the festive mood in St Joseph’s Tulla on Tuesday afternoon was suspended for an hour as the home side hosted St Anne’s in a hard hitting schools final and the second last game in this year’s series of competitions. St Joseph’s had to dig deep to take the laurels against a physical and committed St Anne’ side that in the first half took the chances that were offered up to them, However, the stiff breeze that backed the home side and a far greater defensive performance allowed St Joseph’s to take charge and despite a number of close shaves in the closing minutes held out for a two-point success.
